Stirling Credit Union
Stirling Credit Union is a dynamic financial cooperative providing secure savings and affordable loans for members over the past 20 years. We have over 1,000 adult and more than 700 junior members and we are growing every year. Managed deposits (member savings) exceed £1M and we currently lend over £400,000 to our members.
Stirling Credit Union is owned and controlled by members and managed by a member-elected board (who are all unpaid). Day-to-day operations are managed at our Spittal Street office by a team of paid and volunteer staff.
Our 'ethos' makes us different: we are not in business to maximise profit or reward ourselves, we are in business to serve our members - full stop. People, not Profit.
Members who save regularly benefit from access to some of our lowest loan interest rates and participate in a profit share (or dividend): a double incentive to save.
Savings are secured under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) up to £85,000.
All our loans are open to all members (some require a qualifying period of 3 months' membership). When you borrow from a Credit Union your loan interest creates the income that keeps our doors open to all. By managing costs carefully we aim to make a modest profit from interest income, which we pay out to members as a dividend. Your loan is written off if you die before your loan is cleared (exceptions apply). How many lenders can claim all of that?
Our 'ethos' makes a difference
